Raúlo Cáceres

The early works of Raúlo Cáceres appeared in countless fanzines and periodicals, and more regularly in the erotic magazine Wet Comix between 1990 and 2001. He later published in other magazines such as Eros Comix, with series like Aguas Calientes and Sexotérica. His erotic-themed series from that period included Elizabeth Bathory, Cuentos Mórbidos, Justine, and Juliette.

His striking and transgressive style caught the attention of the publisher Avatar Press, with whom he collaborated for eleven years, working with writers like Warren Ellis, Max Brooks, and Garth Ennis. With Panini Comics and writer Tito Alberto, he created a kind of 1980s-style sticker album titled Galería de Engendros (2019), which enjoyed a sequel published by Diábolo Ediciones under the title Colección de Abominaciones (2022). A full-blown tribute to those old monster sticker albums that amazed us in our youth—now virtually extinct, as only soccer sticker albums tend to survive.

Raúlo has also created illustrations for role-playing games like Aquelarre and El Capitán Alatriste, and he has illustrated board games. He has worked on album covers for extreme metal bands. In 2021, he illustrated Arn, el Navegante, written by Házael González—a fantasy comic set in the Tierra Incontable, published by Dolmen in Spain and Dantes in Germany.

Raúlo continues to create wonders in the form of illustrations inspired by horror and exploitation films, blending mystery and sex in works where his art truly shines and his drawings draw you in. He has also illustrated stories by Lovecraft. His illustrations cover a range of themes but often revolve around horror, eroticism, gore, esoteric legends, and pornography—always with a vintage baroque charm, yet still modern. The erotic content in his original works ranges from softcore to hardcore, dirty, provocative, forbidden, and fantastical. It’s all overflowing—and you’re struck by how meticulous and detailed his drawings are.

His comics and illustrations have been published in Spain, the U.S., France, the Netherlands, Canada, the Czech Republic, among others.
