Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction that portrays dystopian visions of the future, where advanced and extreme technology is combined with social and moral decay. In its early days, the term cyberpunk was used to refer to the science fiction literature of the 1980s, developed by writers such as Bruce Sterling, William Gibson, and John Shirley, among others.
